Farewell 2006, Welcome 2007!

Phew, I can’t believe how time flies. I almost forgot that Zelda-Fans.com is about to celebrate its 1st Anniversary, Yay!. Sorry for not being very productive lately. I’ve been busy struggling with work, life and health, but I sincerely hope I can spend a little bit more time here in the coming year. I started this site in the beginning of 2006, and I made my first post on the January 18th, 2006.
It has been a dream for me to be a part of the video games industry since I was a kid. So, I thought the only way for me to fulfill this is by having a website about video games. Since, I’m only doing this part time, I thought it would be very difficult for me to have a gigantic site about video games knowing that there are so many competitors out there. So, I narrowed down the scope and focused on a game series that I really like, which is The Legend of Zelda. The Legend of Zelda was my very first console RPG and I absolutely love it. It is a game that has all the elements and everything a game supposed to have. So, I’ve made up my mind to build a site related to the Zelda series. And for your information, I had no knowledge on how to build a website before this. I don’t even know what a blog is until I made one myself.
I’ve always wanted Zelda-Fans.com to be a community site. Not just a personal blog, I want it to be like ZeldaLegends.com and ZeldaUniverse.net, these are probably the largest Zelda fansites out there. I thought, it will take a huge amount of effort and man power to create such site, and even I’m able to do so, it would not be UNIQUE anymore. So, I instead of having a site like that, why not make a blog about Zelda? A journal like website where I can update interesting stuff about Zelda whenever I want. Thus, Zelda-Fans was born.
I’ve came across a lot of interesting stuff about Zelda over the past few months but I just didn’t have the time and energy to make any new posts and I’m actually quite disappointed about that. That being said, I hope I can improve this site a bit and take it to another level.
Here are some of my new year’s resolutions:
- Changing Zelda-Fans.com’s Template to a 2 column template. I think the current one is getting old and boring now. So, I’ll probably need a designer to help me out. If there are readers out there are good at designing Wordpress template, and also a Zelda fan, hope you can lend a hand.
- Try to allow people to participate into making new posts and updating this site. I’m getting more and more busy with my work lately and have less time updating this site. So, it would be great if I could turn this into a open source site like YouTube, where readers can upload news, cool and interesting findings about Zelda. I’m still thinking how to go around with this.
- Add new categories like Walkthroughs, Music, Comics etc.I know a lot of readers are looking for zelda walkthroughs, so I plan to add a category where I will put some good Zelda Walkthroughs and Guides.
And the list goes on…
Here, I would like to wish all the Zelda-Fans out there a Happy New Year 2007. I would also like to thank those who have supported Zelda-Fans.com and participated in making comments on this site especially ZeldaMaster. Thanks, I really appreciate it!
May you all have a very good year ahead, all the best and god bless!
-KK
(PS: Merry ‘belated’ Christmas!!)
